Job Title: Science Officer – Technology Transfer

About Organisation:
The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a Government agency established in 1990 by an Act of Parliament (CAP. 209) of the Laws of Uganda. The agency is mandated to facilitate the development and implementation of strategies for integrating Science and Technology (S&T) into the national development process.
Job Summary: Provide support towards the development and promotion of appropriate STI through technology transfer and intellectual property management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design scientific and technological projects for implementation by UNCST;
- Facilitate the carrying out of pilot projects and demonstrations of new technologies or innovations;
- Coordinate intellectual property and commercialization advisory services of the UNCST;
- Build synergies with the regional centers of excellence in the development of regional STI technology transfer systems;
- Provide intellectual property and commercialization support to upcoming program portfolios in different STI strategic fields;
- Work closely with STI-based institutions to support appropriate technology management services and technology transfer systems;
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory and profile of local technologies and innovations with viable commercial value;
- Perform any other UNCST tasks as necessary and as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree (Hons) in bio-systems, industrial or agricultural engineering or a closely similar field
- Post graduate training in technopreneurship, technology or intellectual property management is added advantage
- High level of confidence in relating with S&T stakeholders;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with stakeholders and partners;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proven good reporting and writing skills;
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar field;
- Age: not more than 35 years.
