Job Summary: To coordinate and execute all airfreight operations for oil and gas project cargo, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant transportation of materials, equipment, and supplies. The role focuses on timely cargo movement, regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong communication with freight forwarding agents, and internal stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of import and export airfreight shipments for oil and gas project cargo.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation including Air Waybills (AWBs), commercial invoices, packing lists, and import and export permits.
- Ensure compliance with customs requirements (URA), UNBS and other government authorities.
- Liaise ground handling agents, and project logistics teams to secure flight bookings and confirm cargo readiness both import and export.
- Track and monitor cargo status; provide timely updates to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate weight, dimension, and cargo classification (including dangerous goods, oversized, and high-value equipment).
- Supervise and coordinate with warehouse teams for cargo acceptance, labelling, and loading supervision.
- Handle any cargo discrepancies, damages, or delays, initiating corrective action and documentation of claims.
- Maintain shipment records cost reports and other report that may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in airfreight operations within a freight forwarding or logistics company—preferably handling oil and gas or project cargo.
- Strong understanding of customs documentation, and export/import processes.
- Familiarity with Dangerous Goods (DG) Handling regulations and certification is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders; agents and customs, transporters, and project logistics teams.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to operational accuracy with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Must be adaptable to work under tight timelines and in demanding project environments.
