MTN Uganda is the leading telecommunications Company in Uganda, providing payphone, fixed lines, fax/data, internet and mobile services.

 

Job Summary: The Sourcing Lead- Platform Enablement & IT is a crucial role that oversees the source to contract activities for the IT services and Platform enablement category. This role involves working closely with vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that the procured IT resources meet the organization’s needs and budget. The ideal candidate should possess an understanding of technology environment , experience with ERP systems and the Procure to Pay process.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance to all applicable policies of the organisation not limited to the Supply Chain Policy and Warehouse Procedures.
  • Conduct market research to stay up to date with industry trends, supplier capabilities and emerging technologies.
  • Implement the procurement process of the IT services and digital platform requirements from requisition to contract award.
  • Negotiate contracts with Suppliers ensuring favorable terms and pricing.
  • Execute all supplier management activities in the related category.
  • Cost Management: Achieving cost savings through effective negotiation and strategic sourcing.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Business Administration, Procurement/ purchasing, Logistics) or equivalent.
  • Relevant professional qualification in Procurement and or Supply Chain Management (MCIPS qualification or equivalent is preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT procurement, sourcing, or a related role. This experience helps in understanding the procurement process, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience with ERP systems and the Procure to Pay process, as these are crucial for managing procurement activities efficiently.
  • Technical knowledge of IT products and services, including software, hardware, and telecom, to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
  • Great interpersonal skills

Skills / physical competencies:

  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms and conditions with vendors
  • ERP Systems: Familiarity with ERP systems and the Procure to Pay process to manage procurement activities efficiently.
  • Customer Centricity
  • Great interpersonal skills
