Job Summary: The Danish Embassy seeks to recruit a Programme Advisor – Climate Finance and Environment to help drive our climate finance and environment. Our engagement in climate change and environment work is strong, with a project portfolio at EUR 60m. A large part of it is related to private finance mobilisation for climate change adaptation together with our partners aBi Finance and IFAD. Forestry is a future area of interest.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy and coordination
- Participate in developing and executing the Embassy’s approach to climate finance and environment, including through activities with stakeholders and media.
- Support coordination and dialogue with stakeholders incl. development partners, the Government of Uganda, and civil society.
Programme implementation
- Oversee the project finalisation, partner implementation and administration of projects including results frameworks, finance, and reporting.
- Provide technical advice and support to implementing partners so that they are equipped to contribute effectively towards the relevant thematic areas.
Administration and grant management
- Support the drafting and review of grant agreements to ensure adherence to Danish government requirements.
- Support with grant management, i.e. lead on partner contracts signing and filing. Oversee that partners implement agreed obligations and ensure partner accountability, anti-corruption follow-up and budget management.
- Oversee timely reporting, including financial and narrative reporting.
- Monitoring of compliance and progress during the implementation of the grant.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for Danish Embassy Programme Advisor – Climate Finance and Environment job must hold a Master’s degree in political science, finance, business, climate change, social science, development studies, economics, or a related field.
- Five years of experience in administration and management of grants, working for a donor or in a medium to large-sized donor-funded organisation.
- At least five years of experience working in the area of climate finance and environment.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, forestry is of particular interest.
- Experience working with partner organisations in relation to grants management
- Strong writing skills, including material for external use. Experience with MS Excel
- Good interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to follow written guidelines, work independently and do proactively follow up.
