Job Summary: This is a senior technical and digital operations role responsible for the design, functionality, uptime, performance, security, and innovation of MPL’s digital platforms. The role supervises digital technical operations, integrates AI-driven automation tools, manages digital products, ensures high-quality user experience, and provides technical support across online, mobile, and emerging platforms.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project implementation, overseeing the process of creating digital media products from inception to finished product.
  • Work collaboratively with content owners, editorial teams, commercial units and digital partners.
  • Determine, conceptualize, design, develop and deliver digital media projects across web and mobile.
  • Ensure 99% uptime and optimal performance of online platforms, hosting environments, CMS systems, APIs and mobile services.
  • Implement and manage AI/automation tools for content optimization, metadata tagging, transcription, analytics, and newsroom workflows.
  • Edit online and mobile content when assigned.
  • Recognize and adhere to industry-standard digital production values (visual presentation, UI/UX flow, formatting, transitions, style guidelines).
  • Provide design, technical support, and advisory on web, mobile, streaming and digital platforms.
  • Convert wide variety of formatted materials into appropriate digital formats (image, audio, video, documents).
  • Upgrade existing systems, perform scheduled updates and resolve technical platform issues to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Maintain security standards, including vulnerability checks, CMS protection, and digital platform security best practices.
  • Conduct training for content owners on CMS usage, digital publishing workflows, AI-assisted tools, platform access and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with global trends in AI, digital media technology, content automation, web standards, and mobile innovation.
  • Provide second-level support for all digital platforms and ensure 24-hour turnaround for digital complaints and 12-hour turnaround for ad-related requests.
  • Perform special projects and any other duties as may be assigned.
  • Provide continuous support and maintenance for all MPL websites and digital products.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




 

  • Academic: University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or any other related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional: Diploma / Certification in IT is required. Additional certifications in any of the following are an added advantage:
    • Cloud Technologies (AWS / Azure / GCP)
    • Cybersecurity
    • AI/Automation Tools
    • Digital Media Technology
  • Experience: At least 3 – 5 years’ working experience in IT or digital media environment.
  • Added experience in mobile content delivery systems, APIs, web hosting management, digital security, streaming technologies, and digital product support.
  • Cloud Technologies (AWS / Azure / GCP)
  • Cybersecurity
  • AI/Automation Tools
  • Digital Media Technology

Core Competencies:

  • Proven experience using PHP, HTML, SQL, JavaScript, APIs, and industry-standard web technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern development frameworks (e.g., Laravel, NodeJS, React, Vue) is an added advantage.
  • Experience with e-commerce, mobile technologies, and content delivery systems.
  • Strong understanding of CMS platforms (WordPress, custom CMS, digital newsroom systems).
  • Familiarity with AI tools for digital content generation, optimization, tagging, and automation.
  • Strong communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Very strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and multitasking abilities.
  • Assertive, proactive and diligent with a commitment to high-quality service delivery.
  • Creative and innovative, with a forward-thinking approach to digital transformation.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize workload and manage projects to completion.
