About Organisation:
The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.
Job Summary: To collect, store, analyse, interpret, and disseminate Information Technology data and translate it into knowledge that shall be used for planning, smart decision making, monitoring and evaluation, performance evaluation, and reporting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify National IT Data Requirements to inform policy, planning, and decision-making;
- Design and implement a comprehensive IT Data Framework, including systems and tools for data collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination.;
- Plan and conduct national IT survey, IT Needs Assessments, Impact Assessments, and other Surveys in line with NITA-U mandate;
- Prepare and present survey reports to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and relevance of insights;
- Establish and maintain research collaborations with academic/other institutions to conduct research in IT.
- Lead the development and maintenance of a National IT Database for centralized access to reliable IT data.
- Compile periodic Statistical reports in line with NITA-U’s mandate and reporting requirements
- Review, implement, monitor, and evaluate the NITA-U Strategic Plan for Statistics, ensuring alignment with the Plan for National Statistical Development (PNSD).
- Coordinate responses to external research inquiries and provide technical support to internal supervisors and key stakeholders including Parliament, the Ministry of ICT & NG, civil society, academia, and industry.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics (B Stat) or Statistics & Economics (BSc. Stat/Econ), closely related qualification;
- Postgraduate qualification and/or professional certification in statistics or a related area is an added advantage.
- Membership in the Uganda Statistical Society or any other is an added advantage.
Experience
- A Minimum of three (3) years’ experience coordinating research activities in a reputable Public or Private Organization;
Technical Expertise
- Proficient in analytical thinking and problem-solving across social and policy research contexts.
- Skilled in using statistical management tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Excel, R) for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities- engaging with both internal and external partners to align research outcomes with organizational objectives.
- Excellent in documentation and report writing, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic relevance.
