Job Title:  Graduate Trainee – Communications (No Experience Jobs)

About Organisation:

Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks and all the operational assets associated with the business.

 

Job Summary: To provide support in the implementation of communication strategies, content creation, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that promote UEDCL’s brand and services. The trainee will work under close supervision to gain practical experience in internal and external communication practices.

Impact

The trainee will contribute to the company’s visibility, employee engagement, and stakeholder trust by assisting in producing timely, accurate, and engaging content across various communication channels.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting internal memos, social media content, newsletters, and articles.
  • Help coordinate media events, prepare media kits, and compile media coverage reports.
  • Support regular updates and interactions on company social media platforms.
  • Help disseminate corporate updates and announcements to employees through appropriate channels.
  • Assist in organizing corporate events and community outreach programs.
  • Participate in engagement activities with key stakeholders and communities.
  • Monitor online platforms for public sentiment and flag relevant mentions or issues.
  • Work closely with the Communications Officer and provide basic assistance to the Communications Assistant as needed.

Expected Outputs

  • Drafted and published internal and external communication materials
  • Active participation in events and stakeholder activities
  • Increased digital engagement and timely social media content
  • Media coverage reports and stakeholder contact logs
  • Improved internal communication flow and team coordination




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • Must have Graduated within the last three (3) years
  • Experience
  • No formal work experience required

Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic digital content tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp)
  • Basic understanding of branding, public relations, and internal communications
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and an eye for design
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to learn and take on new communication challenges
