Job Title:  PrimeJack Operations Lead

The dried young jackfruit is the perfect ingredient for a plant-based meal, reducing meat consumption. Fiber Foods is an impact first company. Fiber Foods is an off-spring of “The Business Lab”, an accelerator program developed closely with the Netherlands Embassy in Kampala, from 2019 – 2023.

Job Summary:   The Operations lead is a pivotal role at PrimeJack, responsible for the development and implementation of food production and processing technologies. This position demands a candidate with more than 5 years of experience in a similar role, possessing a blend of technical expertise, leadership qualities, management and interpersonal skills. The role is key to ensuring that our products are produced efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. Embodying PrimeJack’s core values of Bold, Trust, Agility, and Vulnerability, the Operations Lead will be instrumental in driving R&D initiatives, operations solutions, quality control and productivity.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Improve existing food production and processing methods, playing an active role in the innovation and R&D process.
• Scaling up of the current sourcing and production to continuously be ready for increased demand.
• Lead the development and implementation of new food products and processes, in collaboration with the NL team, with a strong emphasis on R&D.
• Actively troubleshoot and resolve technological issues in the factory, serving as a hands- on leader in determining and optimizing the right machinery and processes.
• Ensure adherence to food safety and European quality regulations.
• Work closely with and understand the dynamics of the processing hubs in both Uganda and Kenya, managing the balance of interests between the various companies.
• Lead and manage projects and teams effectively, demonstrating Leadership and Teamwork aligned with our core values.
• Overseeing and managing production budgets.
• Working closely with the PrimeJack value chain.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Degree in Food Engineering or related field
• Over 5 years of experience in food production or R&D
• Experience with food production equipment and technologies
• Demonstrated success in a similar role
• Willingness to travel to the processing hub in Kenya
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Motivated, organised and flexible
