Job Summary: The Finance Head will own the overall loan portfolio, credit quality, collections, recoveries, and portfolio performance across motorcycle and smartphone finance. The Finance Head will lead credit, collections, repossession and recovery, portfolio analytics, and the finance desk within the branch network.
The role will maintain strong credit discipline independently of sales pressure and will report directly to ownership to ensure appropriate oversight of credit quality and portfolio risk.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the loan-portfolio P&L and overall portfolio health across motorcycle and smartphone-finance products.
- Drive collection performance, maintain healthy portfolio quality, and control PAR, delinquency, and write-offs.
- Lead the credit function, including credit policy, underwriting standards, approvals, and ongoing credit-quality monitoring.
- Lead the collections function across both field collections and call-centre operations.
- Oversee repossession, recovery, and recovery-related escalations to ensure effective resolution of delinquent accounts.
- Own portfolio analytics and reporting, ensuring management has clear and timely visibility of portfolio performance, risk, collections, and recoveries.
- Chair the Credit Committee and ensure lending decisions are made in line with approved credit policy and risk appetite.
- Maintain credit discipline independently of sales pressure and ensure lending decisions are based on portfolio quality and risk principles.
- Manage the finance desk within branches and ensure proper coordination between branch finance operations and the lending function.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with Retail Financiers and other relevant financing partners.
- Monitor the performance of credit and collections teams and ensure appropriate targets, controls, and accountability are in place.
- Ensure the LMS and portfolio data are accurately maintained and effectively used for decision-making and reporting.
- Regularly review portfolio trends and introduce corrective actions where credit, collections, or recovery performance falls below expectations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 8–12 years of experience in consumer lending, asset finance, microfinance, an NBFC, or a similar lending environment.
- Proven experience leading credit and collections operations at scale.
- Strong knowledge of credit policy, underwriting, portfolio management, collections operations, repossession, and recovery.
- Experience managing motorcycle, vehicle, device, or other asset-finance portfolios will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of portfolio risk, PAR, delinquency management, write-offs, and recovery performance.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience managing credit, collections, and recovery teams.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain credit standards despite commercial or sales pressure.
