About Organisation:
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) is a cabinet-level government ministry responsible for managing, securing, and sustaining Uganda’s water resources, environmental assets, and climate-resilience infrastructure. Headquartered along Plot 3-7, Kabalega Crescent / Port Bell Road in Luzira, Kampala, it works closely with agencies like the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and the National Environment Management Authority.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or Statistics- computing option. A Master’s degree in related field is preferred
- Proven experience in system development, database management, programming, and application development.
- Professional qualifications in database administration are an added advantage.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience, with some knowledge or background in designing grant procedures and/or management systems and compliance issues.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with enterprise databases and building end-user applications
- At least 3 years’ experience in designing, building, and maintaining applications and wallet systems in Codelgniter, Cyclos
- Excellent skills in building scripts for data backup, recovery, security, and integrity
- Data management experience, familiarity with data systems and business processes
- Financial or business analysis skills
- Well-developed facilitation and teaching skill
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with complex database systems, experience with MicroEdge GIFTS or comparable grants management software preferred
- Ability to multitask and work independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
