Job Summary: To support the planning, investigation, design, review and construction of electromechanical infrastructure for irrigation, water supply, solar power generation and other Nexus Green projects. The role contributes to delivering electromechanical solutions that are safe, reliable, maintainable, energy-efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible, and that comply with applicable standards and Nexus Green’s technical governance. Reporting to the Senior Electromechanical Engineer, the position assists with preparing and reviewing electromechanical drawings, specifications and equipment schedules (pumps, motors, MCCs, inverters, control panels and instrumentation), supports site inspections, hydro static pipeline testing and commissioning activities, helps manage technical risks, and contributes to knowledge capture, standardization and continuous improvement under senior guidance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
- Proficiency in mechanical-electrical & plumbing drafting and office tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Excel); familiarity with protection/modelling tools (ETAP, DIgSILENT, SKM) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with EPANET, Water GEMS or comparable modelling tools
- Demonstrated experience in electromechanical assessment, design, technical review and construction support for water and energy projects.
- Proven experience in design and technical review of pump stations, motors and drives, hydro static pipeline testing MCCs, switchrooms, generators, inverters/battery systems, control/telemetry, valves/actuators and related power distribution equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical-electrical & plumbing drafting and office tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Excel); familiarity with protection/modelling tools (ETAP, DIgSILENT, SKM) is an advantage.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Systems, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, Control & Automation, or a related discipline.
- Professional engineering registration with a recognised engineering regulatory body, preferably with a valid practising licence in electrical/mechanical or electromechanical engineering.
- Training or certification in electromechanical installation, testing and commissioning for water, irrigation and renewable energy systems (pumps, motors, MCCs, protection and control, inverters, battery systems, gensets).
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution.
- Certifications in electrical safety, arc-flash awareness, PLC/SCADA fundamentals or power system protection (IEC/IEEE short courses).
- Experience on donor/lender-funded or government infrastructure projects is an advantage.
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA basics, GIS for asset mapping and remote monitoring/IoT concepts for maintenance is beneficial.
- Exposure to equipment specification and procurement processes, including awareness of longhead items and supplier documentation, is useful.
- Minimum 4-6 years of relevant professional experience in electromechanical engineering, with at least 3 years working on irrigation, water supply, renewable energy or related infrastructure.
- Practical experience in construction-stage inspections for electromechanical & piping works, QA/QC and resolution of installation and commissioning issues.
- Experience managing electromechanical design consultants and multidisciplinary teams, including review of technical deliverables and coordination of interfaces with civil, structural, hydraulic and SCADA disciplines.
- Experience supporting technical bids, proposals, feasibility studies, value engineering and project development, preferably for government or donor-funded infrastructure projects.
