Job Summary: Baikal Financial Services Ltd is one of Uganda’s growing financial institutions, and we are looking for a skilled and motivated Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional who is detail-oriented, analytical, and ready to contribute to the financial accuracy, compliance, and continued growth of our business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate books of accounts and posting journal entries.
- Posting borrower loan repayments accurately to the correct accounts.
- Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
- Performing monthly bank, cash, and loan reconciliations.
- Supporting accounting for loan disbursements and asset financing.
- Preparing and filing statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and NSSF.
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Supporting audit preparation, documentation, and related financial reviews.
- Ensuring accounting records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
We are looking for candidates with:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA/ACCA qualification — part-qualified or pursuing.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in microfinance, lending, or financial services.
- Experience in Boda Boda or asset financing will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in accounting/core banking software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax requirements and microfinance regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity, professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
