The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) is a prominent shared service hub operated by the United Nations (UN) in Entebbe, Uganda. It serves as a vital administrative, logistics, and technology backbone for UN field operations and peace missions across Africa and other global regions.
Job Summary: The intern will support business intelligence, reporting, knowledge management, and data analytics activities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting, sourcing, mining, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources to generate meaningful insights and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Developing analytical reports, dashboards, and visualizations that inform operational and strategic business decisions.
- Conducting quality assurance reviews of reports, data, and processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Supporting the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting solutions.
- Collaborating with business users and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into reporting, analytics, or business intelligence solutions.
- Preparing and maintaining documentation, user guides, job aids, procedures, and other knowledge resources in accordance with established standards and templates.
- Assisting in the preparation of management reports, presentations, and other business communication materials using Microsoft 365 applications.
- Monitoring data quality and supporting data management activities to ensure the integrity, consistency, and usability of information.
- Supporting end-users by assisting with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and the effective use of reporting and information management tools.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- EDUCATION: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school Programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in data science, statistics, mathematics, information technology, computer science, business information technology or related field; or b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in data science, statistics, mathematics, information technology, computer science, business information technology or related field.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- SPECIAL SKILLS Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel is required. Proficiency in standard office automation equipment is required. Knowledge of Programing languages in SQL, R, Python or similar languages to manipulate data is desirable. Ability to collect, clean, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources is desirable. Proficiency in data visualization, reporting, and dashboard creation using tools such as Power BI, Excel, Tableau, or similar platforms is desirable.
- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship programme, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

- Professionalism: Knowledge of advanced studies in data science including data manipulation, analytics, and visualization as well as ability to source, clean and manipulate data from databases (SQL server, CSV, and other data sources. Ability to use data visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI to produce meaningful dashboards and be able to mine data and convert it into applicable insights.
