Mengo Hospital was founded in 1897 in Kampala, and is the oldest hospital in Uganda. It currently serves as an urban community hospital that provides modern medical care. Mengo Hospital provides comprehensive care including radiology, obstetrics, dentistry, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, Mengo Hospital provides critical training and education to health professionals through its various programs in midwifery and nursing, health sciences, and laboratory technology. Mengo Hospital also has a dedicated research and development team that works to find new solutions to health issues in Uganda.

Job Summary: Care for patients who are critically ill or recovering from major surgeries with advanced clinical skills, quick decision-making, and emotional resilience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine Patient Monitoring and Assessment
• Administering Treatments and Medications
• Critical Decision-Making and Emergency Response
• Use and Management of Advanced Equipment
• Documentation of patients’ data and
• Effective Communication with the healthcare teams and patient families
• Family Support and Education during critical moments and Help families make informed decisions, especially in end-of-life care
• Infection Control and Safety; Follow strict hygiene and infection prevention protocols
• Maintain confidentiality and the right to privacy.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Minimum qualification; Diploma in Nursing from an accredited/recognised institution
• MUST be registered with the relevant body in Uganda to practice Nursing.
• Must posess critical care (ALS & BLS) certificate
• At least 2 years of professional experience in Critical areas I.e. ICU/HDU/A&E practice from a recognized institution
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients and staff.
• Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Available to work for Mengo Hospital on fulll time
• Documentation of patients’ data
