Job Title: Risk & Compliance Officer

About Organisation:
Mengo Hospital was founded in 1897 in Kampala, and is the oldest hospital in Uganda. It currently serves as an urban community hospital that provides modern medical care. Mengo Hospital provides comprehensive care including radiology, obstetrics, dentistry, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, Mengo Hospital provides critical training and education to health professionals through its various programs in midwifery and nursing, health sciences, and laboratory technology. Mengo Hospital also has a dedicated research and development team that works to find new solutions to health issues in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Risk Identification and Assessment.
- Proactively identifying potential risks including financial, operational, legal and reputational risk across the Hospital.
- Compliance Monitoring.
- Ensures the Hospital adheres to all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
- Policy Development and Implementation.
- Developing and implementing risk management and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures.
- Risk Mitigation
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure compliance.
- Auditing and Monitoring
- Conducting regular audits and monitoring activities to assess the effectiveness of risk management and compliance programs.
- Reporting and Communication
- Reporting on compliance issues, risk assessments and mitigation efforts to management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Training & Development.
- Providing training and guidance to employees on risk management and compliance matters.
- Staying Updated
- Keeping abreast of changes in regulations and industry best practice to ensure the Hospital’s risk management and compliance practices remain current and effective.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business administration or a related field.
- Professional Certification – Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) is a plus.
- ACCA
Skills
- Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Anti- Money Laundering or AML)
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
