Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited (KCL) is Uganda’s oldest licensed coffee exporter and a leading processor of high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffee. Established in 1992 following the liberalization of the coffee industry, it now operates as the Ugandan subsidiary of the global coffee trader Volcafe Group (part of ED&F Man).
Job Summary: Bio-Processing Engineering graduates work in industries that use biological materials to produce valuable products, such as pharmaceuticals, food, and biofuels .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Optimization
- : Assist in designing, optimizing, and scaling up bioprocesses (fermentation, cell culture, enzyme reactions) for production .
Bioreactor Operation
- : Monitor and control bioreactors and fermentation systems, ensuring optimal conditions for microbial or cell growth .
Downstream Processing
- : Support purification and recovery of products using techniques such as filtration, chromatography, and centrifugation .
Quality Control
- : Monitor process parameters and product quality, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards .
Data Analysis
- : Collect and analyze process data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements .
Research & Development
- : Assist in R&D projects to develop new bioprocesses or improve existing ones .
Documentation
- : Maintain accurate batch records, process logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) .
