Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited (KCL) is Uganda’s oldest licensed coffee exporter and a leading processor of high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffee. Established in 1992 following the liberalization of the coffee industry, it now operates as the Ugandan subsidiary of the global coffee trader Volcafe Group (part of ED&F Man).
Job Summary: Food Science graduates work in product development, quality assurance, food safety, and production management within the food and beverage industry
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control
- : Conduct routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards .
Product Development
- : Assist in developing new food products or improving existing ones by formulating recipes, conducting trials, and evaluating sensory attributes .
Microbiological & Chemical Testing
- : Perform laboratory analyses (e.g., microbiological, chemical, physical) to monitor food safety and quality parameters .
- Process Improvement
- : Collaborate with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency .
Regulatory Compliance
- : Ensure all products comply with local and international food safety regulations (e.g., ZABS, FDA, Codex Alimentarius) and maintain documentation .
Shelf-Life Studies
- : Conduct shelf-life testing to determine product stability and recommend storage conditions .
Supplier Audits
- : Participate in supplier audits and raw material evaluations .
