About Organisation:
National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.
Job Summary: To prepare, maintain, and report on financial activities in line with policies, regulations and International Public Sector Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports and statutory accounts.
- Record, account, and report on business and financial transactions.
- Maintain subsidiary, control, and ledger accounts.
- Reconcile and manage outstanding items on cashbooks, bank accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Undertake custody of fixed assets, including maintenance of a fixed asset register. Preparing and filing statutory returns Follow up on audit queries
- To carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education
- BCom/BBA/BSc (Accounting/Finance option) or its equivalent from a reputable university.
- Full member of a Professional Accountancy Body (ACCA/CPA, U) is a requirement
Experience
- At least three (3) years of hands-on working experience gained while serving with a reputable public, commercial, or donor-funded organisation, one of which must have been acquired in a similar role.
Technical Expertise
- Excellent spreadsheet skills Critical thinking skills Computerized accounting packages.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent report writing skills.
