CNOOC International is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Uganda’s energy sector and owns one-third interests in each of Exploration Areas (EA) EA1/1A, EA2 and Kingfisher. Our partners are Total E&P Uganda (33.3%) and Tullow Oil (33.3%). CNOOC International operates the Kingfisher production license.
Job Summary: Provide seismic support for the full lifecycle of the oilfields. This includes key geophysical rotes in oilfield development plaining, oilfield development plan (FDP) execution and reservoir management with driving new 30 seismic initiatives and stakeholder engagement
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct seismic interpretation, attribute analysis and reservoir characterization for the new oilfield development plan preparation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geology, reservoir engineering) on subsurface modelling
- Support volumetric estimations
- Support the development of wells pre- drilling risk analysis
- Support wells optimization planning (target selection, trajectory design).
- Monitor drilling operations using real-time data to conduct geo-steering.
- Update static/dynamic models with new geophysical insights
- Participate in reservoir performance assessment by combining dynamic production data against seismic analysis.
- Identify and recommend in drilling opportunities workovers. and propose reservoir management strategies
- Conduct technical audits and generate field performance review reports.
- Participate in the design and evaluation of proposals for new 3D seismic acquisition programs (survey geometry, parameters, cost-efficient analysis)
- Oversee field operations during seismic acquisition ensuring HSE compliance and data quality
- Coordinate with contractors/vendors to resolve technical logistical issues on-site
- Prepare technical materials for government regulatory submissions.
- Participate in technical workshops prepare and present geophysical analyses to JV (Joint Venture) Partners the Authority aid align on technical decisions
- Perform other duties assigned by superiors
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Geophysics or the related.
- At least 4 years of related working experience in the upstream oi and gas industry, focusing on seismic interpretation and reservoir assessment.
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the geophysical research method
- Familiarity with the ‘work procedure of seismic acquisition processing quantitative interpretation (Ql) and uncertainty analysis
- Proficiency in seismic software (e.g. Petrel).
