The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) was established under section 14 of the Insurance Statute 1996 now The Insurance Act, (Chap213) Laws of Uganda, 2000 (Insurance Act) which came into effect on 4th April 1996 and commenced operations in April 1997. The establishment of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda was a consequence of Government’s adoption of the liberalization and privatization policies which ended its role of directly engaging in the provision of goods and services and taking on the role of supervisor or regulator.
Job Summary: Responsible for planning, implementing and reporting on assigned audit engagements in accordance with the annual audit plan and manual.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify business objectives, understand risks inherent in activities to be audited and develop audit plans in assigned audit engagements
- Perform Audit work and prepare quality working papers in compliance with audit standards and policy in assigned areas.
- Prepare quality drafts of audit reports for review by the Senior Internal Auditor
- Timely completion of assignments and preparing appraisals at the end of each audit engagement.
- Carry out Audit follow ups to ensure Audit recommendations have been implemented.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timely submission of reports and other legal documents
- Timely attendance to complaints.
- Timely attendance to internal and external customers
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors (Honors) Degree in Finance and Accounting or any other relevant bachelor’s degree majoring in Finance or accounting.

- Good communication skills
- Team Player
- Ability to work under pressure and in position to exercise excellent judgment
