Job Title: Compliance Auditor

Job Summary: Undertake an accurate reconciliation of employers’ accounts with NSSF and review the employers’ human resource policies with regards to workers’ terms of employment & emoluments paid in relation to their contributions’ records in order to ensure compliance with the NSSF Act and enhance business with the employers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement the branch audit work plan by conducting timely audits of assigned employers.
  • Prepare audit notification letters outlining the required audit documents and the audit start date.
  • Organise and conduct audit entry, exit, and other related meetings.
  • Sensitise employers on their NSSF obligations and related services, including voluntary contributions, benefits, and penalty waiver rights, before audits are conducted.
  • Analyse employer records and prepare management letters detailing audit findings and recommendations.
  • Carry out substantive tests during the audit process to establish the employer’s compliance to the requirements of the NSSF Act.
  • Discuss audit findings with employers and resolve issues raised during the audit process.
  • Prepare audit reports and discuss recommendations to support future employer compliance.
  • Analyse employer cash flows, agree on payment plans, and sign deeds of settlement with employers.
  • Monitor deed performance to ensure employers remain on track with arrears payments.
  • Generate Transaction Reference Numbers for arrears before due dates to help employers pay according to signed deeds of settlement.
  • Register employees to minimise suspense arising from audit activities.
  • Issue demand notes and follow up through calls, visits, and emails with audited employers who have not settled arrears; involve CID personnel where necessary.
  • Obtain information on whistleblower complaints from employers or whistleblowers, as applicable, and provide timely and regular feedback to whistleblowers.
  • Compile sufficient and appropriate documentation for submission to the Legal Department to support prosecution of non-compliant employers.
  • Implement initiatives to improve the branch compliance rate to exceed expected targets.
  • Contribute to developing compliance section’s strategic plans that are aligned to the departmental strategy.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to support achievement of departmental and organisational objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders within and outside the Fund.
  • Review personal performance and seek feedback to improve results.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, Finance, Commerce, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A professional qualification in ACCA, CPA.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in compliance, audit, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience undertaking audits or compliance reviews within regulated entities.
