About US:

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200.

Job Summary:   To provide technical support and guidance in revenue and investment management of the Authority.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identifying and developing internal controls to administer the generation, collection of all revenues due to UWA in accordance with the financial procedures.
• Preparing and disseminating guidelines for revenue collection.
• Banking of all revenue in accordance with financial regulations and ensuring that all payment platforms are secure and properly utilised.
• Liaise with all revenue generating departments on all matters regarding revenue of the Authority.
• Identifying potential investments that can spur revenue growth for the Authority.
• Reviewing and approving revenue forecasts and monitoring revenue collection at the different collection centres.
• Reviewing returns from collection points to ensure proper recording and accounting for the Authority revenue.
• Reviewing and approving demand notes for issuance to customers with outstanding balances.
• Handling customers’ complaints, clarifications related to billings, statements and receipts.
• Reviewing schedules for interbank transfers for posting the same in the system.
• Reviewing the unearned revenue schedule and prepayments ledgers.
• Handling all audit queries from internal and external auditors.
• Supervising and appraising staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Finance and Accounting, Commerce (Accounting) or Business Administration (Accounting) from a recognized University.
• A Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) or Finance and Accounting from a recognized University.
• Full Professional accounting qualifications with membership to CPA or ACCA Or
• Full professional  accounting  qualification  with  a  Master’s  degree  in  Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) from a recognized University.

Experience

• At least six (06) years relevant experience, three (3) of which should have been as Senior Accountant from a reputable Organization.
