About the Company:
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act 2013 to regulate Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Postal sub-sectors. In carrying out its mandate and mission of driving the development of a robust communications sector in the country.
Job Summary: To support the execution of technical responsibilities at the Regional Office in alignment with the mission of the Commission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical inspections at the designated Regional Office and prepare reports in line with the Commission’s mission of developing a robust communications sector that drives economic growth.
- Conduct spectrum measurements/monitoring in the designated Regional Office and prepare timely reports.
- Maintain an updated database of technical data and UCC assets register at the designated regional office including remote monitoring stations.
- Conduct enforcement procedures on noncompliance of operations following license terms and conditions at the designated Regional office.
- Assist head office staff in executing routine procedures and resolving technical requests and complaints at the designated Regional Office and prepare appropriate responses.
- Mobilise external stakeholders to attend and participate in UCC workshops, competitions and any other event organised at the designated Regional Office.
- Troubleshoot technical problems for UCC technical equipment and assist in the preparation of appropriate responses to technical complaints in the region.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate any other duties assigned by the line supervisor from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators
- Technical issues resolved on the first customer contact and remotely without on-site visits.
- Average time taken to respond to a support request.
- Customer satisfaction with IT support services.
- Incidents that require escalation to higher support levels.
- Compliance with agreed-upon SLAs for response and resolution times
- Average downtime for IT equipment within the region.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication engineering or Electrical engineering or related field.
Working Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering in a similar corporate environment.
