Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.

Job Summary: The IT Officer is responsible for managing the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring that hardware, software, and networks function efficiently to support daily operations. The role includes troubleshooting IT issues, implementing system upgrades, and ensuring data security and backup processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   The IT officer is responsible for:

• IT Infrastructure Management
• Troubleshooting and Technical Support
• Data Security and Backup
• System Maintenance and Upgrades
• Vendor Management

Duty/Responsibility

• Manage the company’s IT systems, including networks, servers, and hardware, ensuring optimal performance.
• Install and configure new hardware and software systems as needed.
• Provide technical support to all employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
• Maintain a log of IT support issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect company data from unauthorized access and breaches.
• Oversee data backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss.
• Regularly update and maintain all IT systems, ensuring they are secure and up-to-date with the latest software patches.
• Monitor system performance and implement upgrades as necessary.
• Coordinate with external IT vendors for hardware procurement, software licensing, and specialized IT services.
• Ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met for IT service providers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Experience in IT Support – At least 2-3 years of experience in IT roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field – A formal qualification in IT or computer science is typically required.
