aYo Insurance Brokers Uganda – SMC Limited is a subsidiary of MTN and Sanlam Group. It offers life and hospital insurance using technology, analytics, mobile and digital channels.

 

Job Purpose: As a Sales Team Lead h/she is responsible for developing and implementing a commercial sales strategy to meet sales targets. His/her is primary focus is to generate revenue, drive channel penetration and improve brand visibility for the company.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieving the channel’s sales targets.
  • Develop commercial sales strategy and budget to ensure commercial sales targets are met.
  • Work with staff in the direct sales team (Supervisors, team leaders, sales agents) to ensure the planed strategies are implemented correctly.
  • Draft the channel’s budget & ensure the channel is operating within the set budget.
  • Work with the Marketing department to align marketing activities to the commercial sales strategy to ensure there is synergy to meet sales targets.
  • Provide regular updates on number of sales, trends within sales.
  • Re-forecast sales and targets based on performance to date; align with relevant departments to ensure significant changes in strategy or targets are communicated clearly.
  • Manage the sales team to ensure high performance and retention.
  • Monitor performance of sales team against sales targets.
  • Develop a recruitment forecast for direct sales team based on the commercial sales strategy, working with HR to ensure recruitment is completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide training to the direct sales team to ensure strong product knowledge and ability to sell
  • Accountability for all assets within your department to ensure proper utilization to optimize performance as well as ensure safety.
  • And any other duties assigned to you by your line manager.

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • Four years of experience in field sales management
  • Experience in the telecom industry is of an added advantage.
  • 2 years, experience in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Fully proficient with Excel (budgets), PowerPoint (presentations), and Word (reports).
