TASO:
Organization (TASO Uganda), an organisation contributing to a process of
preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of
persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease.
Summary: The Programme
Officer Information Technology & Systems will manage the TASO computer
networks, and to install, configure and maintain user hardware and software at
TASO headquarters.
Performance Areas:
- User
PCs installed and configured - User software installed on all user PCs
- TASO
computer networks operational - Email
server managed Anti-virus and Anti-spam systems maintained
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set
up TASO user PCs (and their operating system, if necessary) and ensure
their optimum performance - Install
the required user software on PCs - Update
the PCs software with new versions as required Configure servers,
switches, routers, hubs, users, client PCs and network printers for proper
sharing and access to network services according to the set policies
Administer and manage the e-mail server for efficient handling of TASO
staff e-mail services - Administer
the network firewall and overall internal network security - Maintain
up-to-date Anti-virus and Anti-spam systems across the network - Monitor
the networks technical performance and recommend appropriate measures - Perform
routine backups and archival of all files stored on the network to assist
with disaster recovery - Give
basic operational support to staff on IT systems used at TASO
Skills & Experience:
- The
candidate should possess a Degree in Computer Science or Statistics
(Computing Option), or Mathematics or Quantitative Economics - Additional
Training Necessary Network management, leading to MCSA / MCSE /CCNA /CCNE/
CCNP /A+ certification - At
least four years experience in a
networking environment - Knowledge
of MS Windows 2000/2003, Linux operating systems. - In
depth knowledge of computer network system protocols (IP addressing,
TCP/IP networks)
