Job Summary: The ideal candidate will have solid experience in importation, customs clearance, and inland logistics, with hands-on knowledge of URA and UNBS procedures and portals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and verify all importation and customs documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Follow up on the customs clearance process for all import shipments.
- Coordinate and monitor the inland transportation process from the point of clearance to final delivery.
- Apply for and follow up on required exemptions and approvals through UNBS and URA.
- Follow up on shipment release procedures and ensure timely exit of shipments from customs points.
- Coordinate with customs authorities, clearing agents, transport providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Track shipment status and resolve any clearance or logistics-related issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of importation, clearance, and delivery documentation.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in logistics, importation, customs clearance, or supply chain operations.
- Hands-on experience with URA and UNBS portals and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of importation and customs clearance processes in Uganda.
- Strong communication, coordination, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
- Experience working with international shipments and customs clearance.
- Previous experience in a logistics, freight forwarding, trading, or import/export environment.
- Knowledge of Ugandan customs regulations and importation requirements.
- Experience coordinating with clearing agents and government authorities.
