Job Summary: To acquire, develop and manage relationships with small enterprise customers by providing appropriate banking and financial solutions, growing the SME loan and deposit portfolio, generating income, and ensuring that the bank’s credit and risk-management requirements are followed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify and acquire new small enterprise customers and grow the bank’s customer base.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing business customers.
• Understand customers’ businesses, financial needs and growth plans and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
• Market and sell business loans, overdrafts, working-capital facilities, savings/deposit products, payments and digital banking solutions.
• Conduct customer visits and business assessments to understand operations, cash flows, assets, markets and financing requirements.
• Prepare and process credit applications in line with the bank’s lending policies.
• Analyze customers’ financial statements, cash flows, repayment capacity and business performance.
• Monitor the loan portfolio and ensure timely repayment and early identification of problem accounts.
• Follow up on delinquent loans and support recovery efforts where necessary.
• Grow the SME portfolio while maintaining good asset quality.
• Cross-sell and up-sell other Opportunity Bank products and services to existing customers.
• Maintain accurate customer records and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
• Ensure compliance with the bank’s policies, procedures, KYC/AML requirements and regulatory guidelines.
• Work closely with Credit, Operations, Risk, Recovery and other departments to deliver solutions to customers.
• Monitor market and competitor activities and identify opportunities for new business.
• Prepare regular reports on sales performance, portfolio growth, income, arrears and customer activities.
• Support financial literacy and enterprise-development initiatives where required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Typically, the position would require:

• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Banking or a related field.
• Relevant experience in SME banking, relationship management, credit, sales or financial services.
• Good understanding of credit analysis and lending principles.
• Knowledge of the Ugandan business and SME environment.
• Strong sales, negotiation and business-development skills.
• Good financial-analysis and report-writing skills.
• Ability to build relationships with business owners and entrepreneurs.
• Good knowledge of banking products and digital financial services.
