Job Summary: The role involves managing and organizing physical geological samples in the core library, ensuring accurate tracking, labeling, and centralized storage to support scientific research and operational needs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work is based in Kampala, Uganda, with possible mobilization to Lake Albert, construction sites, or other cities as required.
- Upon receiving physical geological samples in the core library, verify their consistency with the sample handover list.
- Identify the basic information of physical geological samples (well name, depth, etc.) on the exterior of the core box.
- Prepare a physical geological sample management ledger (Excel form) based on basic information such as well names and depths of physical geological samples
- Store physical geological samples in consecutive adjacent storage spaces.
- Based on the physical geological sample management ledger, accurately locate samples required by scientific researchers and remove them from the core rack to support relevant research activities.
- Photograph geological samples and process images as required.
- Prepare physical file labels indicating the well name, depth and order based on well information and paste them on top of the core box for easy identification
- Before operations begin, conduct a difficulty analysis and technical briefing.
- During the service period, assist the company in completing operational support projects across various regions and communicate and report to project managers as needed to ensure service quality.
- During the service period, complete any other tasks assigned by the company.
- Accurately locate the samples in a timely manner and place them in an orderly manner on the observation table.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- College degree or above in Petroleum Engineering, Archives Management, or a related field.
- Good professional English skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Possession of a forklift driving license with proficiency in operating forklifts and lifting platforms.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, technical specifications, and archive management procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Must possess a smartphone for effective team communication.
- Having access to a personal laptop is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project team leaders to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to thrive in demanding work environments.
