Job Summary: ThinkIT Limited seeks a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer to support financial management, donor compliance, and reporting. The role will ensure accurate financial planning, effective budget monitoring, and adherence to both organizational and donor regulations. The Finance Officer will play a critical role in strengthening financial systems, supporting audits, and ensuring accountability.

As a Finance Officer, you will play a critical role in strengthening our financial systems and ensuring accountability. You will work closely with a small, dynamic team and report directly to the Finance and Operations Manager. This on-site position in Kampala requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
  • Track project expenditures against approved budgets and provide variance analysis.
  • Ensure timely submission of all financial reports with complete supporting documentation.

Budgeting & Compliance

  • Support the development of project budgets in collaboration with program teams.
  • Monitor grant budgets and ensure expenditures align with donor guidelines.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit queries.

Cash & Treasury Management

  • Manage cash flow, including advances, liquidations, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee petty cash and ensure adequate controls are in place.

Grant & Partner Financial Oversight

  • Support financial capacity building of implementing partners and sub-grantees.
  • Review partner financial reports ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

Systems Strengthening & Process Improvement

  • Ensure the use of appropriate financial management systems.
  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen internal financial controls.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • 5 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CPA or ACCA would be an added advantage.
