Job Summary: The Hodari Foundation’s integrity and financial management fall under the purview of the Finance Officer. This entails overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, creating financial reports, and making sure that donor requirements and organizational policies are followed. Strong attention to detail and a dedication to accountability and transparency characterize the ideal applicant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all monetary transactions, including bank reconciliations, payments, and receipts.
- Using the proper accounting software, keep accurate and current financial records and documentation.
- Compile financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for internal use and donor submission.
- Work with the Programs Manager to create and oversee project budgets.
- Verify that all financial operations adhere to donor regulations and the financial policies and procedures of the Hodari Foundation.
- Assist with the internal and external audit preparation.
- When necessary, give non-financial employees financial training and direction.
- Oversee payroll for all employees, making sure that payments are made on time and accurately.
- Act as a liaison for financial and banking organizations.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the programs manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a similar discipline.
- Two years or more of experience managing finances, ideally in a non-profit setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software, such as Tally and QuickBooks.
- Strong familiarity with financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Outstanding organizational abilities, as well as a high level of precision and focus on details.
- The capacity to fulfill deadlines and perform well under duress.
- Honesty as well as a strong sense of professional ethics.
- Understanding community languages such as swahili, Kinyabwisha or kinyarwanda is a plus
