Job Title:  Project Accountant

Organisation: Uganda Investment Authority (UIA)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to:  Project Manager.

 

About US:

The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is a semi-autonomous government agency operating in partnership with the private sector and the Government of Uganda to drive national economic growth and development. The Authority was set up by an Act of Parliament (Investment Code 1991, which was later revised to the Edition 2000 Laws of Uganda) 2019 with the aim of promoting and facilitating private sector investment in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:   The Project Accountant shall be responsible for the project expenditures and project financial reporting as per the Project’s Finance and Accounting Procedures manual and the approved budgets.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing and updating all project budgets;
  • Undertake the role of BoU Project Account agent;
  • Processing of all project operational expenditure payments;
  • Managing of all project petty cash transactions;
  • Handling of URA transactions and all other statutory tax deductions on all project payments;
  • Properly filing project payment vouchers and safe custody of all project payment records;
  • Carryout monthly reconciliation of all project CAPEX and OPEX expenditures;
  • Preparation of periodic project financial statements.
  • Preparation of periodic budget performance reports.
  • Assist the Project Manager in securing accountabilities of all project expenditures;
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

 

Key Outputs

  • Project deliverables such as Project’s CAPEX and OPEX Budgets;
  • Processing of all project capital and operational expenditure payments;
  • Reconciled expenditure records;
  • Project expenditure accountabilities;
  • Project financial statements;
  • Project periodic performance and monitoring reports.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The Project Accountant shall possess a minimum of the following;

  • An honors Bachelors in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional qualification of CPA or ACCA is a MUST.
  • Membership to a professional association is a MUST.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ work experience in financial management or accounting on similar projects.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational skills;
  • Report writing and oral communication skills;
  • Must be results-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels integrity;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills;
  • Attention to detail skills;
  • Competencies with MS Office and other professional software are a MUST.
