About UNODC:
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime. Established in 1997 through a merger between the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, UNODC operates in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of Programme Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programme activities in the country, including by supporting needs assessment, programming and other technical missions and by organizing a variety of technical assistance activities.
- Assist in ensuring close coordination amongst co-implementing and associated programme partners during programme implementation in Uganda.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly/semi-annual/annual progress reports on project implementation, as well as summary of achievements report and donor reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
This assignment is funded by the Government of France, therefore the following specific criteria will apply:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Law, political science, social science, international relations, or related field is required.
- Candidates may apply to a maximum of three assignments per advertisement and indicate the order of preference in the ‘Additional remarks’ section (please include country and title of assignment).
- Only French nationals are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must be between 22 and 26 years of age at the time of the application.
- In addition to the requirements of the DOA, candidates must have obtained a Master II certificate and should have at least 6 months up to a maximum of 3 years of experience.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews with the UN Host Entity.
- Deployment will be in October 2023, after the Journée d’Accueil organized by MEAE in September 2024.
- The UN Youth Volunteers will be invited to a regional Youth Workshop organized by UNV.
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
- Donor priorities
- One year of experience in Rule of Law, justice and accountability, Countering transnational organized crime, Countering Terrorism and Prevention/countering of Violent Extremism is appreciated.
- Minimum requirement is 6 months, up to a maximum of 3 years of experience.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e., studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
