About Organisation:
Mandela National Stadium often referred to as Namboole Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kampala, Uganda. It is currently used mostly for football matches, although other sports are also practiced. The stadium has a capacity of 40,202 people. The stadium was built with a grant of $36 million dollars from the People’s Republic of China. The 40,202 capacity sports complex was built with a $36m Chinese government grant and opened in 1997. Mandela National Stadium has a mandate to promote sports and community development through provision of adequate sports facilities both for national and international competitions.
Job Summary: To provide legal advisory services, ensure regulatory compliance, manage legal risks, and support the Managing Director in safeguarding the interests of Mandela National Stadium Limited.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice to management on corporate, commercial, and administrative matters.
- Draft, review, and interpret contracts, MoUs, agreements, and legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, regulatory frameworks, and governance standards.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings and coordinate with external legal service providers.
- Manage legal risks by developing risk mitigation strategies and compliance mechanisms.
- Support the Managing Director in Board matters, including preparation of legal briefs and documentation.
- Maintain an updated database of legal records, contracts, and statutory documents.
- Provide guidance on disciplinary processes, labour-related matters, and dispute resolution.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization and advise accordingly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Academic Qualifications
- An Honors Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
- Working Experience
- Five (5) years working experience (5 High Court Practicing Certificates), three (3) of which should have been as a Legal officer from a reputable organization.
- Knowledgeable in company secretarial work with an added advantage of ICSA
