Job Summary: Deloitte (Uganda) Limited currently has exciting opportunities for two (2) dynamic people to join our Risk Advisory – Risk Services team as Interns. We are looking for innovative, dynamic, agile, driven, engaging and proactive individuals to take our Risk Advisory business to the next level. This position will be based in our Kampala office in Uganda.
Main purpose of the job: The role provides an opportunity to work with diverse teams of people and clients where you will get to experience the rich, collaborative culture of our professionals. Further, the role provides an opportunity to work across a wide range of projects and industries/sectors to help tackle complex business problems faced by leading Organizations today through exposure in the following areas:
- Accounting and Internal Controls;
- Regulatory & Compliance Services;
- Information Technology Assurance;
- Cyber & Strategic Risk; and
- Data Analytics.
It is an opportunity to sharpen the candidate’s analytical and business skills while working as part of the Risk Advisory team, which is committed to helping clients develop executable strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn and apply Deloitte standards, procedures and methodologies on assignments;
- Ensure assigned work is completed within agreed time frames and carried out per approved methodologies and standards and within agreed budgets;
- Ensure availability of accurate and timely data on assigned tasks as required including using available knowledge sources optimally;
- Keep abreast with technical developments in the profession and the country, in order to anticipate client needs, and offer value added and practical business solutions;
- Raise issues with manager as identified in area of focus that may affect the quality of data and delivery or timelines of the engagement;
- Develop productive working relationships with client staff;
- Manage information security risk in area of client engagement in alignment with Deloitte policies;
- Maintain own development and knowledge in specialized area; and
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Key Performance Areas
- Strategic Impact – Under guidance, supports the delivery efforts of the engagement team in area of competency.
- Budgets/Profitability – Manages engagement budget through accurate budgeting, cost control and profitability management.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation – Ability to effectively perform the technical components of risk assessments to provide an accurate view of the client’s current risk state.
- Business Process Assessment and Design – Ability to perform end-to-end business process analyses and design.
- Internal Controls and Design – Ability to assess and design internal controls by applying an understanding of internal control design frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Data Analytics and Technology – Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data using appropriate tools and technologies.
- Builds a domain Expertise – Ability to form a domain knowledge through the active participation in internal and external initiatives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Intern should at least hold a second-class upper Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university;
- A minimum of 16 points at ‘A’ Level or equivalent;
- A first Grade in ‘O’ Level (with at least credit 3 in English and Mathematics) or equivalent;
- Attainment or pursuance of a relevant professional qualification such as Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is an added advantage;
- Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.);
- Willingness to travel (within Uganda and across the East Africa region) and
- Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.
