Roofings Group
is the leading steel manufacturing company of high quality steel capable of
supplying over 350,000 metric tons per annum to both local and export market
within the region.

Job Summary: The Civil Engineer /EHS Officer will primarily
monitor civil engineering and all related works including road works,
structural steel, construction, deep review and approval of designs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·
The
Engineer will conduct an in depth study of design documents and structural
components in coordination with related disciplines to develop a clear
understanding of construction methodologies and early identification of project
risks.

·
Shall
assess and implement maintenance requirements for all organization
infrastructures

·
Responsible
for safe custody and management of company estates including Superstores,
Nkumba Property , Mbarara, Gulu, lake Heights, Lubowa estates, senior staff
residences, etc.

·
Shall
produce, interpret and analyze engineering drawing s and designs in different
software and guide in setting out.

·
Provide
project implementation skills and techniques, assess resource demands and
advise management accordingly.

·
Control
of construction resources including materials, labour, time, tools

·
Shall
perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by his supervisors

·
Report
in writing on delays, observed quality deficiencies of the works, materials and
quality issues relating to construction operations.

·
Identify
and advise on any unsafe or incorrect practices and escalate issues where
necessary.

·
Implement
safe working practices at the factory and Outlets

·
Inspect
facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential
hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

·
Conduct
periodic safety meetings with shop representatives, management and employees to
discuss the organization’s performance in its occupation health and safety and
environment

·
Conduct
or coordinate workers’ trainings in areas such as safety laws and regulations,
hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment

·
Investigate
industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes
and preventive measures

·
Interview
employees to obtain information about work environments and work-place
incidents and conduct job safety observations

·
Conduct
or coordinate direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation
levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations

·
Ready to
take on any other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·
The ideal
candidate for the Roofings Group Civil Engineer /EHS Officer job must hold a Bachelor’s
degree in engineering (Civil, Structural or other related) from a recognized
university

·
One year
of experience in civil works and steel structures.

·
Good
knowledge of civil engineering principles, standards and regulations relating
to construction and inspection and related computer software.

·
Experience
in machine foundation works is of paramount importance

·
Working
experience in steel manufacturing industries is an added advantage

to communicate and interact well with all levels of staff

to analyze data and provide meaningful reports

·
Good
analytical and problem solving skills

Good
physical health, strength and stamina

Ability
