Job Summary: The Ericsson
Operations Assurance Transmission Engineer will be responsible for the
coordination, management and execution of proactive and reactive maintenance
activities that require a higher level of support that the one offered by the
1st Level Operations. This shall ensure that the services provided to customers
are continuously available and performing to Service Level Agreement (SLA)
performance levels
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for resolving trouble tickets
    within the allowed restoration and resolution times as outlined in the MS
    SLA
  • Receive day to day escalation of
    transmission related site/link outages
  • Guide and advise NOC Dispatcher to send an
    FE to site if the findings of his investigation requires an onsite
    intervention for power restoration or replacement of faulty HW
  • Actively coordinate troubleshooting with
    his FE or BTS counterpart if necessary
  • Provide technical support for FE for
    onsite problem isolation
  • Perform implementation of changes in the
    transmission network as a result of audits
  • Support and coordinate with other teams in
    the planning and implementation of network improvement activities within
    his domain
  • Develop competence in the MS tools for
    transmission such as SO EM and IPTNMS
  • Actively implement security control in the
    existing transmission network
  • Recommend improvement measures that will
    improve network performance and increase stability
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should have at least five
    years’ experience in either telecommunications vendor or mobile operator
    environment
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting
    skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Cost Awareness
  • Social skills and awareness
  • The applicants should possess Multivendor
    microwave radio relays is required and good knowledge with regard to each
    Client’s equipment features (this is subject to learn or update)
  • ATPC/RTPC and Adaptive Modulation
  • Configuration:1+0,1+1 HSB,n+1 Protection,
    Space Diversity, Frequency Diversity
  • Microwave antennas parameters and
    Radiation patterns
  • Radio Waves Propagation principles such as
    quality and Availability as documented by ITU, Link Budget and losses,
    Refraction , Diffraction ,Reflection phenomena, Fading Margin and fading
    types, Hi/Low violation
  • Transmission technologies such as TDM,
    PDH, SDH, IP/Ethernet, QoS
  • Topology types and circuits protection and
    techniques
  • Optical network elements such as
    multiplexers, WDM ,DWDM, Media Convertors, Passive Optical Elements
NB: The above mentioned role
may be based in Tanzania or Uganda.
