provide overall guidance to, and management of GIK planning, resource
acquisition, implementation and monitoring in line with WV Uganda and
partnership standards, and strategic direction/ priorities in a manner that
contributes to the well-being of children.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a GIK resource development plan
and lead in donor communications and engagements. - Technically support the integration of GIK
as a strategic resource in the delivery of child wellbeing in programs and
project. - Work closely with the DRR Manager to
undertake stock prepositioning to enable timely response to emergency
situations. - Steer the development of GIK forecasts or
annual GIK plans for the Programmes or Projects, in line with their
respective goals and objectives as well as the National strategy. - In charge of on-going engagements with the
Support Offices on the GIK evaluation, approval and shipment of GIK
offers, in collaboration with the Sector Specialists. - Create budgets and spending projections
for the GIK operations and Maintain tight budgetary control over the GIK
operational budget and ensure compliance with the WVI Field Financial
Manual. - Provision of insight and access to best
practices and exposure to various innovations and initiatives in
facilitating effective utilization of GIK in WVU. - In collaboration with the Logistics
department, ensure that the GIK products received into the country undergo
customs clearance on time.
- Work with the Regional Operations Managers
to support the staff capacity development in Gifs-In-Kind Mainstreaming. - Manage the performance of direct reports
by ensuring that performance agreements, regular performance reviews, and
annual performance appraisals are done to ensure that optimization of
subordinates’ potentials. - Ensure that the GIK department staff and
Casuals workers in the warehouse adhere to the Warehouse and WVU codes of
conduct and policies.
- Ensure that storage and handling of
pharmaceuticals is done in line with the requirements of WHO, NDA and WVI
minimum standards. - Ensure that the receipt, storage and
distribution of GIK resource of WVU is done in line with the GIK minimum
standards of WVI. - Ensure that the GIK Ware house is in a
good condition and order to ensure safety of the resources. - Ensure that there is a good GIK inventory
management systems in place, and operational. - Develop and/or implement a GIK ware house
risk management.
- Identify and build Partnerships with to
support effective delivery and integration of World Vision Uganda’s GIK
resource. - Strengthen networking and collaboration
with key government line ministries, institutions, and other agencies for
effective GIK planning and implementation.
- Develop and/or implement a GIK monitoring
system that facilitates efficient tracking of GIK from SO and within
National Office. - Compile, prepare and submit regular
reports to the Donors/Support Offices, Government, WVI Finance and Audit. - Report on use of pharmaceuticals received
as GIK or procured by WV Uganda to key stakeholders especially MoH &
NDA - Compile and submit periodic and monthly
reports.
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a university
Degree in Development Studies or related field. - A minimum of five years’ experience in
programming. - Excellent analytical and problem solving
skills. - Excellent command of the English language,
both written and spoken. - Passion for children.
- Track record demonstrating high integrity,
reliable and dependable - Good networking and influencing skills
- Possess the ability to work with minimal
supervision. - Must be a committed Christian, able to
stand above denominational diversities.
