Job Summary: The Transmission Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and optimization of telecommunications transmission networks. The role ensures reliable connectivity and efficient transport of voice, data, and mobile network traffic using microwave, fiber optic, IP/MPLS, SRV6 transmission technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and plan transmission network solutions for telecom infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and commission transmission equipment including microwave radios, SDH, DWDM, and IP/MPLS, SRV6 systems.
- Monitor network performance and ensure maximum network availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve transmission network faults and service interruptions.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on transmission equipment.
- Conduct network upgrades, expansions, and optimization activities.
- Coordinate with field teams and vendors during installation and maintenance projects.
- Analyze network performance reports and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with telecom standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and technical reports.
- Support network rollout projects and integration of new sites.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Experience in transmission network planning, implementation, and maintenance.
- Microwave transmission systems.
- Fiber optic transmission technologies.
- SDH/SONET, DWDM, and OTN networks.
- IP/MPLS and SRV6 networking.
- Network monitoring and management tools.
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Telecom power systems and site infrastructure knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good project coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
- Experience
- 2 to 5+ years of experience in telecommunications transmission engineering or related network operations roles.
