Job Summary: This position has a strategic thought leadership and implementation role with responsibility over collaborating with cross-functional teams across EABL Uganda, while supporting the Uganda Commercial Director in implementing the Annual Operating Plan (AOP – Volume, NSV, GM & Operating profit)) and Commercial Strategic Agenda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Data, Governance and Analytics

• Design mechanisms to measure business performance critical metrics versus targets.
• Aggregate data to generate actionable insights that advance business objectives.
• Drive data quality, data integrity and governance of commercial systems and reporting platforms.
• Lead the Commercial Governance Calendar, ensuring timely execution of business reviews, governance forums, commercial audits and compliance assessments.
• Establish and track governance critical metrics, control effectiveness measures and compliance scorecards for the commercial organization.
• Ensure commercial decisions are supported by appropriate documentation, approvals and governance controls in line with delegated authority requirements.

Stakeholder Management and Influencing

• Facilitate, lead and communicate key commercial critical initiatives in line with the AOP and Commercial Strategy.
• Ensure that CLT and business partner commitments are delivered.
• Ensure work requirements on confidential HVAS initiatives and transactions are met.
• Ensure identification, analysis and evaluation of transactions and projects that bring value for the commercial organization.
• Act as secretary and coordinator for key Commercial Leadership governance forums by tracking actions, decisions, risks and accountability commitments.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Internal Controls, Risk and Compliance teams to ensure commercial initiatives align with corporate governance standards and regulatory requirements
• .

Business Partnering & Change Management

• Participate, influence and add new value in business issues. Highlight and action potential opportunities and risks
• Constructively challenge and enhance value in key business areas through thorough planning, forecasting and valuation modelling.
• Provide independent governance challenge to commercial proposals, investments and critical initiatives to ensure risks, controls and compliance implications are fully considered before implementation.
• Lead remediation plans arising from audits, compliance reviews and control assessments within the commercial function.

Commercial Performance and Governance  Routines

• Define, cascade and embed performance routines and rhythms towards achieving targets.
• Mentor and develop others across the commercial organization.
• Align and upgrade capabilities to business agenda while building cross-functional team effectiveness.
• Lead monthly Commercial Governance Reviews to assess policy compliance, control effectiveness, risk management and execution of agreed actions.
• Ensure governance, compliance and controls are embedded within commercial performance routines and decision-making processes.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Business Degree level with strong academic record.
• 8 years FMCG experience, including significant experience in sales operations, business analytics, commercial excellence or business performance management.
• Good relationship management and interpersonal skills.
• Presentation, report writing and research skills.
• Multifaceted and creative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong understanding of strategy development & Implementation, project & change management, corporate governance principles, risk management frameworks and internal control environments.
• Experience in driving compliance, commercial controls, policy implementation and governance routines within a complex FMCG or multinational environment.
• Knowledge of commercial audit requirements, delegated authority frameworks and business process controls.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive accountability through governance forums and structured performance management processes.
• Understanding of regulatory, legal and compliance requirements impacting commercial operations within East Africa.
• Professional certification in Risk Management, Internal Controls, Governance, Compliance, Finance or Project Management (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIA, PMP) would be an added advantage.
