Job Summary: The Transport Operations Superintendent is responsible for the hands-on execution, tactical planning, and real-time oversight of national and cross-border transport operations. Reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager, this role ensures that drivers, dispatches, and active loads strictly adhere to delivery schedules, load capacities, safety protocols, and transit regulations. The Superintendent leads the frontline operations team — including dispatchers, route monitors, and driver supervisors — to achieve maximum fleet productivity, operational safety, and customer satisfaction while managing day-to-day transport costs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Route Execution & Daily Dispatch Oversight — manage dispatch workflows, real-time monitoring, turnaround optimization, and backhaul/load factor optimization.
- Driver Workforce & Safety Leadership — supervise driver teams, enforce HSE standards, track performance metrics, and manage incident response.
- Cross-Functional & Peer Coordination — align with Fleet & Maintenance, liaise with Clearing & Forwarding (C&F), and coordinate with customer service.
- Cost Management & Operational KPIs Reporting — audit trip expenses, report KPIs (OTD, turnaround, idle time), and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field, with 5+ years of supervisory/superintendent-level experience in transport operations, heavy vehicle fleet dispatching, and driver management (cross-border or long-haul experience highly advantageous).
- Hands-on experience with TMS, fleet telematics/GPS tracking platforms, and route optimization software required, along with deep regulatory knowledge (national transport laws, axle load regulations, cross-border transit requirements, HOS rules) and strong leadership/crisis-management skills.
