Job Title: Field Officer – Volunteer (Several Jobs)_

Duty Station: Kiryandongo, Uganda
Job Summary: The Field Officer will support Refugee Mental Health Network (RMHN) to coordinate and carry out its activities in Kiryandongo. The role will provide administrative, community engagement, communication and operational support while helping ensure that activities planned by the Kampala team are followed through on the ground. The Field Officer will also support RMHN’s agricultural activities and serve as an important link between the RMHN team, community members, partners, workers and other stakeholders in Kiryandongo.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day running of the RMHN field office in Kiryandongo
- Support the planning and coordination of RMHN activities in the community
- Maintain calendars for field activities, meetings, appointments and other important tasks
- Engage with community members, leaders, partners and other relevant stakeholders
- Support community mobilisation for RMHN programmes, trainings, awareness activities and other events
- Represent RMHN in meetings and community engagements when delegated
- Serve as a coordination link between the Kampala team, community members, partners, farm workers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Maintain an updated farm activity calendar covering planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, maintenance and other relevant activities
- Support the coordination of seasonal casual workers and other workers engaged for agricultural activities
- Maintain basic records of farm and field-related expenditures and activities
- Keep simple records of meetings, activities, contacts and other relevant information
- Provide regular updates to the Programme Coordinator on field activities, progress, challenges and opportunities
- Identify operational issues and escalate them to the appropriate RMHN staff
- Support other reasonable field and administrative activities as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Reliable, trustworthy and responsible
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Good knowledge of Kiryandongo and the local community
- Interested in mental health, wellbeing and supporting communities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Basic knowledge of using a computer and smartphone
- Able to maintain simple records and provide basic written updates
- Ability to move around the community and support practical field activities
- Available to travel within Kiryandongo as required
Education & Experience
- At least a Diploma in Business Administration, Management, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Office Administration or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
- Experience in community work, volunteering, administration, agriculture, NGO work, field coordination or working with refugee communities is an advantage
- Experience in community mobilisation or engagement is an advantage
- Experience or exposure to mental health, psychosocial support, community wellbeing or community-based programmes is an advantage
