Job Summary: To drive Britam Uganda’s digital and microinsurance growth agenda by developing scalable digital channels, driving inclusive microinsurance solutions, and cultivating strategic partnerships. The role focuses on revenue growth, customer inclusion, and technological innovation to advance Britam’s digital transformation and financial inclusion strategy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Distribution Strategy and Execution

• Develop and execute digital channel strategy to expand reach and revenue.
• Identify and evaluate emerging digital platforms and technologies that can enhance product accessibility.
• Collaborate with IT, Marketing, and Operations teams to roll out seamless digital sales, onboarding, and service processes.
• Monitor performance of digital channels and drive continuous optimization through analytics and customer feedback.

Microinsurance Development and Market Expansion

• Design and implement microinsurance products tailored to low-income and informal sectors in line with Britam’s financial inclusion agenda.
• Conduct market research and customer needs assessments to inform product development.
• Lead partnerships with MFIs, SACCOs, telcos, cooperatives, and community-based organizations to distribute microinsurance solutions.
• Track product performance, profitability, and customer uptake, and recommend enhancements.

Strategic Partnerships and Alliances

• Identify and formalize high-value partnerships (fintechs, telcos, aggregators, digital platforms) to expand distribution and enhance value propositions.
• Develop partnership frameworks, MOUs, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with partners to foster collaboration, innovation, and mutual growth.
• Represent Britam in external stakeholder engagements related to digital, micro and inclusive insurance.

Business Growth, Compliance and Reporting

• Identify, build, implement and maintain digital and partnership initiatives.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on channel performance, partner productivity, and market trends.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies in all digital and partnership activities.
• Contribute to the company’s overall business strategy through insights from digital and microinsurance initiatives.

Performance Delivery

• Deliver on performance requirements as defined in the department’s strategy map, balanced scorecard and Personal Scorecard.

Other Duties

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Key Performance Measures

• % Growth in premium income through digital and partnership channels.
• Number and quality of new partnerships established.
• Market share and penetration in microinsurance segments.
• Customer acquisition and retention through digital platforms.
• Product innovation and operational efficiency improvements, including the number of new digital/microinsurance products launched.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, Economics, or related field.
• Professional qualification in Insurance (COP, ACII, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 6–8 years’ experience in business development, digital distribution, or partnerships within the financial services sector.
• Proven experience in developing and managing digital or partnership-driven distribution models.
• Experience in microinsurance or inclusive financial products will be an advantage.
