Job Summary: We are seeking a Carbon Project Developer – Uganda to support the development and implementation of our carbon program in Uganda. This is a country-level coordination role working closely with SunCulture’s carbon leadership team in Kenya to ensure the successful execution of carbon project activities, stakeholder engagement, and verification processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate carbon project development activities in Uganda.
- Lead logistics for field activities related to data collection, monitoring, and grievance redress.
- Support the transition of AMS I.B projects from Gold Standard to PACM methodologies and advise on relevant environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate in-country workshops, stakeholder consultations, and carbon-related events.
- Work closely with SunCulture Kenya to support project validation, verification, and monitoring activities.
- Assist in developing project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Support carbon accounting and implementation of emerging carbon methodologies.
- Facilitate Local Stakeholder Consultations (LSCs) and community engagement activities.
- Manage the country-level carbon grievance redress mechanism.
- Coordinate day-to-day carbon operations in Uganda in collaboration with the Carbon Operations Lead.
- Develop monitoring systems and prepare regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in carbon committee meetings and cross-functional project coordination sessions.
- Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in carbon projects, climate finance, sustainability, or environmental programs.
- Strong understanding of the Voluntary Carbon Markets – carbon project development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with carbon accounting methodologies, validation and verification processes, and environmental regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, timelines, and reporting requirements.
