In January of that year, the school, which was later renamed Uganda Technical College, opened its doors to 14 day students who began studying Carpentry, Building and Mechanics.

Job Summary: Provide technical support onsite inspection, quality control and surveying of civil works

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support to the Civil Engineer on Civil works;
• Communicate regularly with contractors and developer’s representatives to ensure compliance to design and construction standards;
• Provide onsite inspection of surface and underground improvements/ utilities for new projects and as redevelopments;
• Prepare inspection reports;
• Witness and confirm test results on new utilities and Geo technical compaction testing;
• Assess site specific drainage problems and recommend practical solutions;
• Monitor and report on effectiveness of sediments and erosion control plans
• Assist with reviews, communications and administration of new developments and sub divisions;
• Provide engineering information by answering technical questions and requests;
• Maintain Civil and building works;
• Collect data on all civil maintenance works needed in Colleges/ Schools, University staff houses and Halls of residences;
• Maintain mechanical, plumbing and refrigeration works;
• Carry our repair/ remedial civil works
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors of Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
• Communication and interpersonal skills;
• Team work
• Computer literate
• Attention to detail
• Age Limit: APPLICANTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED FIFTY FIVE (55) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION
