About Organisation:
The Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE) was established on 5 July 2024 through Statutory Instrument No. 53 of 2024 under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (UOTIA), Cap. 262, as an Other Degree Awarding Institution (ODAI).
Job Summary: To perform general accounting duties involving tracking accountability, up-dating and maintaining books of accounts of the Institute
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides custody for accounting records and documents.
- Processes employment tax payments, Local Service tax and NSSF returns and keep records thereof.
- Posts financial transactions, cashbooks, subsidiary ledgers to General ledge and maintain up- to-date record of books of accounts.
- Prepares and reconciles payroll transaction reports.
- Enters transactions into the commitment control register.
- Keeps custody of cash/imprest, effect payments, and maintain up-to-date cash book records.
- Prepares draft monthly reconciliation reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in either Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option), Business Studies (Accounting option), Finance and Accounting or related fields;
- OR A full professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ACIS and CPE from a recognized Institution and accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).

Certified copies of Academic Transcripts and Certificates;
All foreign Academic qualifications must be EQUATED with the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE)
A copy of the National Identity Card;
Copies of previous appointment letters MUST be attached;
Serving Officers MUST attach their current payslips
The envelope should be clearly marked “Application for the post of” as indicated above.
Incorrectly addressed applications and those without the above attachments shall be rejected.
Age Limit: The applicant should be aged at most Forty -five (45) years or below at the time of application except for the post of Dean of Students which is fifty-five (55) years and below
Tenure of Appointment: Appointments for Salary Scales PU1 to PU3 are issued on a contract basis. For Salary Scales PU4 to PU15, appointments are permanent, subject to the successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
