Job Summary: Rural Development Foundation Uganda is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support financial planning, reporting, budgeting, cost control and management decision-making.
This is a contract, on-site position based in Masaka. Applicants must currently live in Masaka or be willing to relocate to Masaka before taking up the role.
The Management Accountant will prepare, analyse and interpret financial information to support the organisation’s financial and operational performance. The role will be responsible for producing accurate and timely management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
The Management Accountant will also work closely with programme, operations and management teams to support project accounting, financial controls, audits, compliance and effective use of organisational resources.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow reports.
- Review financial statements and monitor performance against approved budgets.
- Manage accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, cost allocations and month-end closing processes.
- Analyse financial data, identify trends and explain significant variances.
- Provide financial insights and practical recommendations to support management decisions.
- Work with programme and operations teams to prepare departmental, project and grant financial reports.
- Support donor-funded project accounting and reporting requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits, tax matters and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely posting of transactions.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and support improvements in accounting processes.
- Monitor costs and support effective allocation and use of organisational resources.
- Present financial information clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA or an equivalent qualification, completed or in progress.
- At least four years of relevant experience in accounting, financial management or a related role.
- Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, financial statements, budgets and forecasts.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience using accounting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in an NGO, financial institution, donor-funded organisation or project accounting environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of relevant financial, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with management, programme and operations teams.
Location Requirement
- This role is based on-site in Masaka. Applicants must currently reside in Masaka or be willing and able to relocate to Masaka before starting the position.
