Job Summary: The incumbent will become part of a well-established team working with clients to understand, plan and execute effective commercial and tax strategies, assisting clients to respond to new legislation both in Uganda along with ongoing international tax reforms at the OECD level. As a Consultant you will provide a comprehensive range of services, from strategic tax advisory projects and corporate transactions, to assisting clients with their evolving compliance and reporting obligations. You will be empowered to take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients, allowing you to take ownership of your workload, whilst delivering great service to a variety of businesses across different industries.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build trusted client relationships with finance and tax leaders across a portfolio of organisations.
- Act as the main contact for your client portfolio – building deep trusted client relationships and being responsible for quality, delivery and all aspects of client service on the engagement;
- Use your knowledge of your clients’ businesses to help bring tax advisory solutions as well as taking a lead role in delivering these advisory projects and/or managing input from specialist Deloitte teams as required;
- Raise issues with the Manager as identified in area of focus that may affect the quality of delivery or timelines of the engagement;
- Actively build business relationships that generate business prospects Identify opportunities for follow-on work and work with management to win new business;
- Assist in development of client presentations/discussion documentation;
- Gather information to understand broader offerings of Deloitte and seek opportunities for cross-selling;
- Raise solutions to address issues in area of expertise that may enhance/renew service offerings to client;
- Work on the tax audits of clients, identifying and resolving material tax technical issues and reviewing the accuracy of tax reporting;
- Maintain quality and timeous delivery as per Service Level Agreement (SLA);
- Provide initial recommendations of current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Legal function to Manager level practitioners;
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the key capabilities required to deliver a high-quality service experience to the client;
- Deal with URA on technical matters;
- Select appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing data, and develop informed recommendations that shape or support the client’s business strategy;
- Mentor more junior members of the team and play an active role in their development;
- Apply technology knowledge to address client business challenges; and
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time.

- Strategic Impact – Support the Engagement Manager in delivery of engagement / project, in specific area of competency, raise issues with manager as identified in area of focus that may affect the quality of delivery or timelines of the engagement, Identify opportunities for follow-on work and work with management to win the business, assist in development of client presentations / discussion documentation, actively build business relationships that generate leads, gather information to understand broader offerings of Deloitte and seek opportunities for cross-selling, raise solutions to address issues in area of expertise that may enhance/renew service offerings to client.
- Budgets / Profitability – Maintain quality and timeous delivery as per Service Level Agreement.
- Tax laws and rules – Provides initial recommendations of current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Legal function to Manager level practitioners
- Delivery excellence – Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the key capabilities required to deliver a high-quality service experience to the client
- Analytical thinking and problem solving – Selects appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing data, and develops informed recommendations that shape or support the client’s business strategy
- Technology tools and solutions – Applies technology knowledge to address client business challenges
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, International Business Management, Law, Economics or any other tax relevant field desired;
- A recognized accounting or taxation qualification such as Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT), is an added advantage;
- Minimum of four (4) years previous tax experience, ideally with international businesses in industry, tax revenue or a professional service firm.
- Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.); and
- Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.
