Job Title:      IT Officer – Security

Job Summary: Maintain and control all aspects of network and system security (routers, firewalls, switches and operating systems as well as software related security) within the University environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement, network security policies and procedures;
• Perform vulnerability scans and deploy security patches;
• Review logs and alerts for anomalies and potential security breaches and implement mitigation measures;
• Document and maintain inventory of security incidences and security status;
• Perform security audits and compliance programs;
• Manages security devices such as firewalls, IDS, VPN, and others;
• Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the immediate advisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• A Masters Degree in Information Technology or Information Science/System or Library or Information Science/ Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Mathematics/Physics/Electrical/Electronics or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Systems and Technology and any other ICT related programs from recognized University/Institution;
• An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Information Science/System or Library or Information Science/ Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Mathematics/Physics/Electrical/Electronics or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Systems and Technology and any other ICT related programs from recognized University/Institution;
• Specialized professional certification such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
• Experience
• A minimum of three (3) years working experience

Skills/Competences

• Knowledge in administering system security measures in a large ICT environment.
• Pays attention to details;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Output oriented work habits;
• Good conceptual skills;
• Initiative and innovation.
• Age Limit: APPLICANTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED FIFTY FIVE (55) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.
