Job Title:  Operations Supervisor

Organisation: Biogas Solutions Uganda (BSUL)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

 

About Organisation:

Biogas Solutions Uganda (BSUL) builds the capacity of Biogas Enterprises (BEs) and is responsible for both demand and supply implementation roles under the ABC Program with support from SNV the lead implementer.

 

Job Summary:   Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of agricultural workers, is responsible for year-round operation, inspection and management of the farm machines, crops, implements, production processes & executes the organization’s plan for agriculture and agri-inputs. Ensures compliance with agricultural regulations, all while complying with the company’s safety policy and striving to increase commercial production.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all daily operations and efficient management of organization resources.
  • Organize and supervise work for employees. Determine a work schedule for each employee in their respective function.
  • Execute duties such as record keeping, planting, cultivation, water management, turning compost windrows, operating farm machinery, animal husbandry, harvesting of crops, BSF production and product packaging and storage to ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Train personnel on how to perform the work required, how to operate applicable equipment, in addition to other duties as required by the company. Train workers in planting, harvesting, pest control, insect and disease identification, and in the use of safety measures.
  • Accurate record keeping of data inputs & outputs, accounts, production, timings, staff, etc as required for efficient operations.
  • Efficiently communicate (oral and written) to farm management on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment efficiency and its operation.
  • Ensure all farm equipment is working safely & properly and if not, report it immediately to management.
  • Meet suppliers and partners at designated locations, log in present and absent personnel in timesheets, report and allocate each employee and operation in the proper cost centers and provide instructions for daily and monthly activities.
  • Observe workers to spot inefficient and unsafe work procedures, and initiate corrective action if necessary. Write disciplinary warnings for non-performing employees as necessary.
  • Manage employees informed of rules & regulations and enforce them.
  • Any other duties as shall be tasked by management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the agriculture industry
  • Diploma from an Agricultural College
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Good leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Ability to be hands-on and work as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate farm machinery
  • Bilingual (English and Luganda) preferred
  • Must be able to lift 30 kgs
